Managing Expectations – A Path to Accountability and Effective Communications

Background

Multiple clients approached DuraBante to assist them with concerns about certain project managers. Each of these individuals demonstrated a lack of understanding of certain aspects of their job. This contributed to performance gaps in their execution of expected deliverables and how these gaps were miscommunicated. In each case, management saw the benefit in providing additional training rather than looking to replace these individuals.

What DuraBante Did

On average DuraBante spent over 40 hours spread out over a couple of months to work with each individual. As part of our approach, DuraBante completed the following:

  • Performed an assessment.
  • Identified gaps between expectations and performance.
  • Tailored our approach to meet individual needs.
  • Developed a personalized accountability matrix and action plan.
  • Taught individuals how to manage expectations from a management and stakeholder perspective.
Mentoring

  • Improved communication and reporting.
  • Better presentation skills.

The companies DuraBante worked with that were willing to invest in their employee ended up with an individual that not only met expected deliverables but also demonstrated skills that made them as asset to the company. These individuals received:

  • Increased credibility with management and key stakeholders.
